Local News (Cornwall Standard Freeholder)

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 08:28:06 PDT
CORNWALL – Things were on a roll bright and early this morning with the Bike-A-Thon Plus kick-off breakfast at the civic complex. Hundreds packed the salons to support the Children’s Treatment Centre’s second largest fundraising event, something which greatly pleased its chair, Milton Ellis.

A news junkie’s dream …. or nightmare

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 10:46:47 PDT
I am a news junkie and admittedly if I had cable plus the extra TV I would probably have either CNN or CBC Newsworld on the whole time I’m in my room I jokingly call my office. So when I saw Brian Solis’ post about local broadcast news going social I was at first rather skeptical of the the idea; after all everything these days is having the social sticker slapped on its ass like it is going to be the road to instant riches or something. But when I clicked on the LiveNewsComeras.com link (go

Cons: RCMP Raid Was a 'Publicity Stunt'

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 13:10:43 PDT
Pass the tissues. Oh how I weep for those poor victims of the RCMP raid of the Cons' headquarters. Not. The tories are scrambling to paint themselves as being oppressed after yesterday's raid (which continues today). The problem is that they appointed the two Elections Canada officials they're now suing and that they applaud the RCMP (even protecting Zaccardelli to the bitter end) except when they're the targets of a legally-sanctioned warrant. And now, they're also trying to implicate the Li

Tricia Walsh Smith Vents Youtube Divorce

HULIQ (press release), USA

Tricia Walsh Smith Vents Youtube Divorce

Not only is Youtube (Web Video) good for sharing Music Videos and TV Broadcasts segments, but apparently its a great tool to use when trashing soon-to-be estranged spouses as Tricia Walsh Smith invents new style of divorce: Youtube Divorce.

Former actress and playwright ("Bonkers") Tricia Walsh-Smith, vented ALL of her frustrations out against her husband, Philip Smith, President of the Shubert Organization, the largest theater owner on Broadway, on Youtube.

Famous Divorce Raoul Felder who represents Tricia Walsh Smith says, "The situation is funny but Divorce isn't". "This is a victim who is holding her head up. I think she comes off well."

On the taping of this already famous YouTube Divorce video Smith bashes family members who gave her hell and tells the world how her husband, is allegedly trying to evict her from their luxury apartment.

Tricia Walsh Smith also makes embarrassing claims regarding their intimate life, and then calls his office on camera to repeat those claims to a stunned assistant in the divorce video put on YouTube.

Norman Sheresky, a Partner in the Matrimonial Law firm Sheresky Aronson Mayesfsky & Sloan says, "I don't think it's the kind of thing people should be doing, and it's the kind of thing judges frown upon".

"This is absolutely a new step, and I think it's scary," said Bonnie Rabin, a divorce lawyer who has handled high-profile cases. "People used to worry about getting on Page Six (the gossip page of the New York Post). But this? It brings the concept of humiliation to a whole new level."

To date Tricia Walsh Smith's YouTube Video (below) has been seen by more than 150,000 viewers.

Cuba Gets Cell Phones Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 9:29 pm Contributed by: randem Yesterday the Communist island to our South became a little more like us. Monday was the first day Cubans could buy and use cell phones. This story, reported in many major news outlets including the AP (cited here via Wired.com http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CUBA_CELL_PHONES?SITE=WIRE&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT) tell the story of seemingly endless lines as Cubans waited to for the opportunity

Oy, vintage cutlery again..and the cause-du-jour

Tue, 15 Apr 2008 19:29:40 PDT
This is the April/May 2008 issue of "donna hay" magazine. My first ever! An indulgence for me personally at $7.95 but the clincher was the free notebook it came with called "note to self". It has lovely stripes of (whose?) signature duck egg blue and white (like in the magazine border above) with some elastic around the middle to keep it shut. I like elastic around notebooks. This one keeps the matching pencil in place. The inscription inside reads "A little book for life, love, adventure and t

When everyone’s an aggregator who’s going to do the creating?

Tue, 15 Apr 2008 19:50:46 PDT
Is the shift from producing original content to curating it a sign of the times — end times maybe — for media as we’ve known it? In an excellent piece in Advertising Age, Matthew Creamer makes the point: Aggregation, not as a sidelight but as more of a focus, is a mission change for media, and there’s a case for it, to be sure. Time and attention have limits, but the universe of content, it seems, does not. So finding a way to quickly and cleanly deliver relevant news is important. But there
