‘Blog’ Ado about nothing

Sun, 18 May 2008 22:43:10 PDT
They don’t leave any stone unturned to get publicity, do they? Page 3 on print, night life shows and stupid reality shows on TV, and now they have the new media too! Blogging is the next best way to gain media attention, especially IBN’s attention. Not only is IBN making as much noise possible about their own ‘IBN Blogs’, but, thanks to the wannabe socialites, they are getting enough celeb blogs controversies to keep their TRPs going. All the blogging publicity started off as a western cult

Yes, the day has finally arrived and Year 4 and 5 are off to camp for the week. Please remember when you arrive at school to leave your main luggage either in the tunnel or at the meeting point on Memlingstraat. Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to monitor the bags here and then load the coach when it arrives. Children should report to the hall with their daypack, medicines and pocket money and register with their ‘house’ teacher. Everyone should then wait in the hall until we are rea

Retro Apple Goodness

Sun, 18 May 2008 22:47:36 PDT
My first Mac was a PowerBook 150. The bezel housed a beautiful, slightly raised multi-colored Apple logo. I liked that logo. I miss that logo. Forum Member Maggi has come to my rescue. The simplicity and familiarity of the logo might undermine what Maggi has done in turning the iconic into an icon. Simply put after a quick update that took into account some forum feedback, the Apple looks as perfect as it did on my PowerBook 150 back in 1994. Check it out in the forums.

We Built Ankara with Rock and Roll!

Sun, 18 May 2008 22:47:48 PDT
Sometimes the God of Rock and Roll works in mysterious ways. Consider Sunday afternoon – It was hot in Los Angeles, and I was sitting around in my underwear, looking at different music videos on YouTube. By chance, I hit upon Starship’s “We Built This City on Rock and Roll.” I’ve always liked this song as a guilty pleasure. At the same time, it was sad to see that the former members of the great Jefferson Airplane falling so low. This 80’s music video had a self-importance to it, but I c

a big week

Unless you've been in a cave, you all know how the gay marriage decision came out. It still hasn't really sunk in for me yet. I'm justifiably statriotic, but I haven't fully grasped that I'm an equal citizen again (legally speaking, anyway). I intend to read the decision, but it's 172 pages, so it'll take a while. I made it to the rally in West Hollywood, and it was wonderful. Actually, it was kinda boring, to be honest. But it was important to be there, and it was wonderful that it happened.

Weapons Grade Porpoise

Sun, 18 May 2008 22:48:55 PDT
This week’s HipTrax podcast (on Wired’s GeekDad blog) features my song Weapons Grade Porpoise. The whole episode is worth checking out, it’s just the right length. This week’s theme is instrumental songs by nerds, check it out here. Weapons Grade Porpoise is one of the instrumental’s off of my new album Me Geek Pretty One Day. One of the things I really like about this particular track is that it was one of the first instrumentals I wrote that sort of tells a story. Of course I never expected
